Cornwall is the perfect place to discover some incredible coves and sheltered beaches for a dip in the sea. Why not try Stithians Lake, Carbis Bay or Gylly beach? The Lizard peninsula also has some super hidden spots where you’re unlikely to bump into another swimmer, although you might see a seal. Many of our local beaches have RNLI lifeguards too. The Jubilee pool in Penzance is a fantastic day out – a lido in a stunning location with superb views over St Michael’s Mount. If you’d prefer a flume, wave pools, slides or jacuzzi, we’d recommend the Ships and Castles Leisure Centre in Falmouth, just a few miles from Caddy’s. There are also several other pools and spas nearby, just let us know what you’re looking for and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Surf, body board, wind surf, kite surf, belly board – so much choice just a short drive from Caddy’s Corner. There are plenty of surf schools and places to hire boards and wetsuits across Cornwall; we can guarantee that both regular surfers and absolute beginners are very well provided for. Caddy’s Corner is the perfect base for watersports, as whatever the swell and wind combination you’re in luck with only a short drive to the north, south or far west coasts of Cornwall. We’re avid surfers ourselves and might even let you in on a couple of secret spots! There are also plenty of competitions that take place across the county, if you’d like to watch the pros just let us know and we’ll point you in the right direction. Cornwall has so many beaches to choose from – pirate hideaways, fishermen’s coves, miles and miles of golden sand perfect for walks, picnics, sandcastles and watersports. Here are just some of our favourites – Cadgwith for watching crabs being landed, Porthtowan for rock pooling, Sennen for sunbathing, Godrevy for seal watching, Kynance for the azure blue water, Chapel Porth for the coastal path, and Porthcurno for its sheer beauty. Whether you’re looking for mountain bike routes, long stretches of coastal lanes or a skate park, you can find it in Cornwall. Explore the coast-to-coast route and the old tramways of the mining era. Perhaps spend a day on the Camel Trail which takes you along a level estuary ending in Padstow, a great day out from Caddy’s Corner. We also have some Adrenalin fueling mountain bike trails very close by and a number of great skate and bike parks that will keep you entertained! From spectacular scenery to crazy single track and concrete bowls, there’s something for every cyclist nearby, and don’t worry, there are plenty of places to hire bikes locally.

Ride through beautiful countryside or gallop along the beach, enjoy a sunrise or a sunset trek. Cornwall has a wide range of stables across the county which cater for all levels of rider. Nearby you’ll find Wheal Buller Riding School, alternatively if you’d like to combine a trip to Land’s End with a riding experience, try Land’s End Equestrian Centre. Reen Manor Riding Stables also offers some super coastal treks on Perranporth beach. Why not explore on four legs rather than two?

Walk through some of the finest coastal scenery in the British Isles. Whether you’re looking for a short walk, day long adventure or dedicated walking holiday, we really do have it all in Cornwall. The South West coastal path can be accessed all around the coast and although many walk the whole route (630 miles!) you may choose to just pick a cliff walk, pub stroll or beach romp. The coast is full of contrast and you’ll be surprised at how the coastal walks and scenery differ across the south, west and north of Cornwall. The South West coast path is just a short drive from Caddy’s Corner making it a great place to base yourselves if you’re looking for a Cornish walking holiday.

Crabbing competitions are a must and great fun for all the family. Flushing quay is the perfect spot to go and we can almost guarantee bacon bait will land you a catch! You could also head on a fishing trip from Falmouth or take a ferry to explore the estuary, stopping off at some of Cornwall’s beautiful gardens as you go. The Smugglers Inn is a great cream tea stop after a pirate trip up the river. (Fancy dress recommended but not essential!) There are some fabulous gardens in Cornwall, Trebah and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are particularly special. There are also some fantastic attractions to visit, Eden Project, Paradise Park and Heartlands will keep you busy for a whole day. Or why not head to Trevaskis farm, pick your own fruit and visit the farm animals, there are plenty of pigs, and sometimes piglets, calves and lambs to see.

Caddy’s Corner is close to 101 things to do on a rainy day. We know that the British summer might have a damp day here and there so don’t worry, there are lots of options for indoor fun near to Caddy’s. Head to Geevor Tin Mine or the Maritime Museum. Spend an afternoon enjoying tea and cake in Miss Peapods or a roast at the Golden Lion. And, if it’s raining why not get in the sea? We always enjoy a surf or a swim when we’re wet anyway! There are plenty of soft indoor play areas for the children, and many of Cornwall’s major attractions, Eden Project and Paradise Park for example, still have heaps to do in grizzly weather.
